FROM KIRSTY WARK

Dear viewers,

Tonight we're planning to begin with the impact of the release of the final four British citizens being held at Guantanamo Bay. (Two more British residents are still in detention). Are they a threat to national security or not?

Each of the five Britons released last March were held for just a few hours for questioning by police before being freed without charge. At that point the others remaining were deemed by the US authorities to be too dangerous to release.

So what is the truth behind the incarceration of Moazzam Begg, Feroz Abbasi, Martin Mubanga and Richard Belmar? We speak to their lawyers.

There is early evidence of problems in Indonesia over the distribution of aid. The government has told aid workers not to venture beyond Aceh's large cities because of "militant threats".

However separatist rebels said they would never attack aid workers. Indonesia is likely to be one of the trickiest countries to help through this crisis, partly because of its record on corruption and repression.

As officials from eighty donors meet in Geneva under the auspices of the UN, how can we make sure money given to Indonesia reaches those who need it most?

There has been no more crucial time for an examination of international aid and how it is calculated and disbursed.

Today the Conservatives have announced that they can make Britain's aid budget go further. We'll be asking the shadow international development secretary to tell us how he'd do it.

What happened to all those New Labourites who sang gustily, "Things Can Only Get Better"?

The journalist and critic John Harris may not have been singing, but in 1997 he was on board. Now the anti-war, anti-privatisation writer has been out and about for Newsnight trying to find the answer to his new book "So Now Who Do We Vote For?"

And the latest on the Newsnight Review panellist Germaine Greer's sojourn in the Big Brother house. She's walked! Perhaps it was having to wear that mop cap.

Looking forward to 10.30pm? I hope you are.

Kirsty
