IN BRIEF: SIEMENS BUSINESS SERVICES MOVES TO STRENGTHEN POSITION

German IT services provider Siemens Business Services (SBS) is selling its German hardware maintenance and repair. SBS has agreed to sell Sinitec Vertriebsgesellschaft, which employs around 1,100, to A&O Systems + Services for an undisclosed amount. Sinitec provides maintenance and repair services for PCs, laptops, printers, servers, and other IT equipment throughout Germany. Newly founded A&O offers similar maintenance and repair services for both IT and telecommunications equipment. In a separate move, parent company Siemens has decided to hand over the operation of its global IT infrastructure to SBS in a move to strengthen the position of its IT subsidiary. The business, which is to change hands over the next three years, will generate several hundred million euros in annual revenue, Siemens said. Siemens employs more than 430,000 people in around 190 countries.
