IT is watching you watching them. The FBI is out to get you jailed, too. http://newsletter.infoworld.com/t?ctl=B2DE74:353CA35 ======================================================================== REPORTS OF PHISHING ATTACKS UP AGAIN IN DECEMBER BOSTON - Reports of online identity theft scams known as "phishing" attacks were up again in December, when more than 1,700 active phishing Web sites were reported, a 10 percent jump from the previous month, according to data released Thursday by the Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG). http://newsletter.infoworld.com/t?ctl=B2DE78:353CA35 ======================================================================== WOW! WHAT A WAN It wasn't so long ago that calling a telco to order frame-relay circuits was the only feasible way to securely connect remote offices to headquarters. The typical frame-relay network consists of T1 and fractional T1 circuits connected via a frame switch located in a telco CO (central office), with all these circuits aggregated on a central circuit in the corporate datacenter. The recurring fees are costly, leaving IT directors little choice but to severely limit the bandwidth to remote sites. If 128Kbps circuits can do the job, albeit slowly, then up they go. http://newsletter.infoworld.com/t?ctl=B2DE75:353CA35 ====================================================================== -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- ADVERTISEMENT ATTEND FREE STORAGE SESSION COMING TO A CITY NEAR YOU Now, businesses are required by law to manage data at more than a backup and restore level.
